Something to Tumble Onto

Have fun trying to finish two hubcap size pancakes!

If you’re in the North Shore area and are looking for a quick bite for breakfast, lunch, or even dinner, then take the Essex Street exit off of Route 1 North and head to one of Saugus’s best. The Tumble Inn, located on Lincoln Ave, just around the rotary off of Essex Street, is a small, homey establishment where the locals get their fill several days a week.

Famous in Saugus for their breakfast, The Tumble Inn offers everything from hub cap size pancakes that range to about a foot in diameter to steak cheese omelets made with real shaved steak. The coffee is superb as is the service and while there is often only two waitresses in the entire restaurant, The Tumble Inn still provides an intimate dining experience. Good luck trying to find a seat, though! The building is so small that you could be standing in the doorway for a good amount of time on a busy Sunday morning.

The best part about The Tumble Inn is the cost. Just one of those giant pancakes goes for a measly $2.25. Omelets run anywhere from $4.00 to $8.00 and their special “2 X 4” meal (2 strips of bacon, 2 sausage links, 2 hubcap size pancakes or French toast, and homefries) runs for $7.25, at least $2.00 less than anything comparable from the competitors and chain restaurants in the area. It’s safe to say that for great tasting, hot breakfast; The Tumble Inn at 488 Lincoln Ave in Saugus is the place to go!
