The Glenview: Where Everybody Knows Your Name

Delicious, inexpensive food is very hard to come by. I don’t go out to eat very often, but when I do The Glenview Pub and Grille in Chelmsford, Massachusetts is usually at the top of my list. For those of you unfamiliar with Chelmsford, (as most people are) the town is located next to Lowell and approximately fifteen minutes south of Nashua, New Hampshire.  Lucky for me, I live right there, so The Glenview is only five minutes from my home!  The restaurant is conveniently located right off of Route 3A on Princeton Street. Parking is available in the lots located on the either side and back of the restaurant, however the place tends to fill up fast so try to get there early.

What I love about this place is the friendly, laid back atmosphere and very personable wait staff.  When you are seated you have a choice of sitting at the bar, in the main dining room or the area off the bar where the entertainment tend to set up shop.  The bar area boasts 4 large flat screens and one huge projection screen.  So, if you feel like grabbing a bite and watching the Red Sox or Patriots game, this is the place to be.

The menu is lengthy and carries everything from burgers and prime rib to lamb kabob or liver and onions.  I refer to their food as “comfort food,” meaning it fills your stomach and makes you feel good about what you just ate.  The portions are hearty, so be prepared to bring home leftovers.  If I were to recommend a certain item it would definitely be the lamb kabobs.  They are cooked perfectly over a bed of rice pilaf.  There really isn’t a bad meal to be had.

Understand that you aren't going to find "upright food on teeny-weenie plates that was handcrafted by sensitive artisans" here, and none of the "A-List" crowd would even dare walk through the front door. All the food comes flat on your plate, in big portions, and very reasonable prices. The quality is great and the place is loaded with locals who know where to go.  This is a great example of a place that has survived on a very successful menu that is delivered with consistency.

If you are looking for a laugh or to get your singing on, head to the Glenview on a Thursday night because it’s Karaoke Thursday.  Fair warning: the place gets flooded with people, so remember to come early and get a spot.  If that’s not your thing, but you enjoy live music, on Fridays and Sundays “Take Two” performs.  The talented two-man duo livens up the crowd and keeps the mood light.

Pretty much anything you order from here will be good. If you want to go out for dinner to feel like your eating homemade food, Glenview is the place to go.

The price, quantity and quality overall is great in my book. Don't judge a book by its cover because from the outside it doesn't look like much. Give it a try!
So, if you find yourself driving Route 3, maybe heading to do a little tax-free New Hampshire shopping, just jump off exit 32 and head to the Glenview.  I promise, you will not be disappointed!
